Your trek starts in the rainforests of Lemosho Glades and heads upwards as you acclimatise on Shira Plateau. From here you will catch a glimpse of your goal Kibo, Kilimanjaro's main ice-capped peak. You continue via the beautiful Southern Flank, Barranco Wall and Barafu Route.

Temperatures drop at night, allowing you to enjoy the crisp cool air under the star-studded African skies. During the days you'll rise higher; often looking down on a sea of clouds.

Our groups have excellent success rates (96%) for trekkers reaching the summit, but don't underestimate the challenge ahead. Most trekkers will never have an experience as tough as this, with 1,000m of ascent and over 2,000m of descent. It is however victory day!

This unique itinerary is designed to give the participant a huge feeling of achievement in taking on a great challenge and a chance to visit three of Europe’s most vibrant cities. Along the way the cyclists will experience rural England, Holland and Belgium and return on the world famous Eurostar, a unique travel experience in itself.

Cycling is possibly the best way of experiencing the surroundings, and although this event will be hard going at times, the chance to cycle into the heart of Amsterdam and Brussels will be very special. The cycling will be varied passing through English suburbia, Essex wetlands, Dutch hamlets, tulip fields, Belgian villages and Europe’s most historic cities.

Each night we will be treated to high quality local restaurant food and stay in high standard hotels.

The route covers approximately 300 miles, mostly on minor roads and lanes. The cyclists will be supported along the way by Across the Divide cycling guides and doctors who will ensure the safety and well being of the participants, and logistical staff who will ensure that everything is prepared ahead of your arrival. Brand New for 2010
A fantastic new challenge for 2010 is a 100km off-road circular bike ride around the Isle of Wight. And there’s something for everyone as there is also a choice of 75km or 50km if you are starting out.
This unique event provides a very tough but memorable challenge, and is set to become a classic of which you can be the first to be involved.
100km: Cycle around the whole of the island, visiting each of the corners, while staying off-road virtually all of the way, using the best natural, hilly, technical trails the island has to offer.
75km: This option still covers the island, but just misses off the far western leg. A great route that will leave you ready to tackle the 100km next year…
50km: This route is perfect for riders wanting an introduction to the island, including many of the best trails, but without going to each of the far corners of the island.

The first ever charity ride from London to Paris off-road

The challenge is over 250km of cycling off-road over 3 days from London to Paris.

Day 1: Over 100kms of riding as you head south from the capital, travelling along (mostly) well surfaced, flat, easy, off-road trails until the last leg where you climb on to the South Downs. With fine views of the coast you know its downhill from here, literally. A fast descent brings you in to Brighton and the end of the first day’s riding.

Day 2: We catch the ferry from Newhaven, providing 4hrs to rest as we cross the sea, arriving in Dieppe, where we continue the ride. We will ride 40kms that afternoon, heading south-east, on the Avenue Verte, to the town of Forges les Eaux, where we will spend the night.

Day 3: An early start is required as we head south, using a wide mixture of trails, providing the hardest riding of the route so far, taking us the last 120km to finish in Versailles, Paris.

The majority of the route uses off-road (but not very technical/challenging) terrain.

A hardtail (front suspension only MTB) or cyclocross style bicycle would be the perfect choice for optimum efficiency.

Anything else I need to know?
• This is not a race
• Teams of 4-6 – entire team can ride all distance or as a relay
• All teams must have a support vehicle
• We advise you to register as soon as possible as limited team places available, to avoid disappointment!
• Registration includes Ferry crossing and end of ride Dinner
• Accommodation not included
• Minimum age 18
• We strongly recommend all riders to wear cycle helmets
• All riders given a free BHF t-shirt but new to 2010 the option to purchase a BHF bike specific cycle top on the website. Please keep checking website.
• Please do train for this event as it will be fairly tough

Do I have to raise sponsorship?
We ask all riders to raise a minimum of £250 in sponsorship please.
However to help the BHF save lives we urge you to raise as much sponsorship money as possible. The BHF is the nation’s heart charity, dedicated to saving lives through pioneering research, patient care, campaigning for change and by providing vital equipment and information.  We rely on donations of time and money to continue our life-saving work.

126KM - 3 MARATHONS - IN 24 HOURS This fantastic new race will be run in 24 hours across the vast, wild and remote area of the Grand Canyon North Rim.

The North Rim remains untamed and isolated – an uplifted, forested plateau surrounded by desert. Although only 10 miles (as the crow flies) from the busy tourist area of the South Rim, the North Rim is more than 200 miles away by road.  Just one road crosses the top of the plateau and ends abruptly at the edge of the canyon.  Very few visitors attempt to visit the North Rim, so you and your fellow runners can expect to encounter a remoteness now rarely experienced in daily life.

You will be self reliant – carrying your food, water and survival equipment.  Water stations will be set at regular intervals, and medical staff will be positioned along the route for support if necessary, but otherwise it’s you against the other contestants and the elements.

We will also hold a 42km marathon which will be run at the same time as the 126km ultra. All competitors will start together, but the marathon runners will finish at the 42km rest station. For more detail contact jenn@acrosthedivide.com or goto www.acrossthedivide.com

ARC - Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and one of the largest free standing mountains in the world.
Climbing Kilimanjaro is a challenge to say the least and is one of the mountains almost every trekker and mountaineer in the world wants to conquer. Kilimanjaro is more or less 24 miles wide and 49 miles long; it is more ecosystem than mountain. It dwarfs other regional landmarks like Mt. Meru and Mt. Kenya and dominates the savannah of East Africa.
The mountain consists of three peaks: Shira, Mawenzi, and Kibo (the highest point of which is Uhuru). We will be climbing Mount Kibo peak in this challenge.

Our China trek offers a truly unique experience. Not only is it a chance to visit one of the world's most impressive historical sites but also, as a result of our local contacts, it offers a rare opportunity to trek and camp in a remote part of rural China and to experience local life in its most unspoilt state. In order to maximise the opportunities for interaction and learning about the local history and culture, a team of local translators support all our treks in China.

The Great Wall attracts over a million visitors each year, however, the vast majority of tourists visit just a small section of the wall near Beijing. We have planned a route that will take us beyond the regular tourist trail and onto sections of the wall that have been seen by only a handful of westerners over the last hundred years. For more detail contact susan@acrossthedivide.com or go to www.acrossthedivide.com
