www.acrossthedivide.com - Shivling Peak Climb, led by Simon Yates of 'Touching the Void' fame. The charity fundraising element of this expedition is voluntary. The stunning peak of Shivling (6,543m) lies at the heart of the Gangotri region of Uttar Pradesh in India. Widely acclaimed by mountaineers as the world's most beautiful mountain, it is also coveted by Hindus as the home of Shiva - one of their most important gods. The source of the Ganges is just a few miles from the base of the peak at the snout of the Gangotri Glacier. The surrounding peaks - the Bhagirathis, Kedarnath Dome, Thalay Sagar and Meru, to name just a few, are equally impressive. A finer collection of mountains cannot be found anywhere. Shivling offers a fantastic objective for our expedition, being readily accessible and having a wonderful base camp (Tapovan) right at the foot of the peak. The route we climb is the West Ridge. This offers continually interesting climbing on snow and mixed terrain with short technical sections that will be fixed with rope. At the top of the ridge a band of ice cliffs are skirted to give access to the summit snow slopes. A marvellous opportunity to climb this beautiful mountain - for more information contact julie@acrossthedivide.com

www.acrossthedivide.com - Climb Three Peaks in Nepal, led by Simon Yates of 'Touching the Void' fame. The charity fundraising element of this expedition is voluntary. This trip to Nepal is a short concentrated introduction to climbing moderate peaks in the Himalayas, and to expedition mountaineering. The mountains and the routes we climb by have been chosen to show a variety of approaches and techniques, and to maximise climbing time. They fit neatly into the projected time scale and allow for sufficient acclimatisation. We climb successively Pokalde (5,806m), Chukung Ri (5,600m) and finally Island Peak (6,189m). Island peak is the culmination of our efforts and a significantly more demanding climb than the previous two peaks. This is the highlight of the expedition and affords great views of Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu and Ama Dablam and a host of other summits - for more information contact julie@acrossthedivide.com

Cycling in the remote area of North Vietnam, the route takes you through a range of spectacular landscapes, ranging from sleepy villages and dazzling paddy fields to lush jungle.
Vietnam is an incredibly diverse country, with ancient cultural sites, amazing landscapes and hospitable people, all of which will make this a challenge of a lifetime.
There are some steep hill climbs on the route, but it wouldn't be a challenge without them! And as a reward, you'll even have time to enjoy Sapa and Hanoi before returning to the UK. While this trip is challenging, it should be achievable by most people, with enough training.

www.acrossthedivide.com - A unique route which only we have permission to use, away from the hustle and bustle of the main Inca Trail which our competitors have opted for. We use a previously unknown valley where we have helped to rediscover otherwise neglected ruins, constructed toilets helping to promote better health, and community structures in villages that do not otherwise benefit from the monies generated by tourism. Our deliberate policy is to employ local horsemen and their mules, and to support local education and health initiatives hand-in-hand with local community leaders - for more information contact julie@acrossthedivide.com

www.acrossthedivide.com - Our China trek offers a truly unique experience. Not only is it a chance to visit one of the world's most impressive historical sites but also, as a result of our local contacts, it offers a rare opportunity to trek and camp in a remote part of rural China and to experience local life in its most unspoilt state. One of the most rewarding aspects of this trek is the ability to experience the warmth and enthusiasm of the Chinese people, which make cultural interaction a real pleasure - For more information contact julie@acrossthedivide.com

www.acrossthedivide.com - Climb Mera Peak, led by Simon Yates of 'Touching the Void' fame. The charity fundraising element of this expedition is voluntary. We climb the mountain by the classic South West Ridge route - a long and elegant rock and mixed ridge that leads up to the summit snow slopes. The objective dangers for a mountain of this size are minimal there is no glacier to negotiate and virtually no danger from avalanche or rock fall. The views of the Lhotse/Nuptse wall, Everest, Pumori, Cho Oyu , Makalu and many other fine peaks are simply superb. The most technical difficulty sections of this climb will be fixed with rope, but it is physically demanding with long days and sections with a lot of exposure - For more information contact julie@acrossthedivide.com

www.acrossthedivide.com - Sledding over 200 kilometres from our base camp into the wilds of the most northern European country of Norway, this event will prove the ultimate challenge for many participants. An odyssey of ice and teamwork between man and dog, our participants will need to go right back to basics, with many effectively re-learning the simple truths of life as a result of their experiences. The nature of the event means that it is run with a relatively small number of participants (13 maximum). Each participant will have his/her own sled, pulled by 4-6 huskies. An ATD expedition leader, supported by an experienced expedition doctor and a local guide, will head up the expedition - For more information contact julie@acrossthedivide.com

www.acrossthedivide.com - Our journey begins in the Bhandavgarh Tiger Reserve and traverses the Highlands of the Central Indian Range, crossing some of India’s most beautiful and unspoilt valleys. We ride through rolling hills and homelands of nomadic and tribal people, through river courses, across fertile plains dotted with small villages and hand cultivated fields, before entering the Sal and Bamboo forest of Khanna National Park. The Park offers stunning game viewing by jeep and elephant. The combination of historical sites, valleys, wildlife, visits to tribal villages and stunning campsites make this an unforgettable journey - For more information contact julie@acrossthedivide.com

www.acrossthedivide.com - Our China trek offers a truly unique experience.

The ultimate destination is Machu Picchu – the “Lost City” of the Incas – one of the world’s most fascinating and important archaeological finds. www.acrossthedivide.com - This truly is a stunning trek through the Magical Buddhist kingdom of Ladakh, passing charming villages and monasteries, and offering magnificent views of the Himalayas including the highest peak Stok Kangri at 6100m, Karakoram and the rugged Zanskar range. www.acrossthedivide.com - One of the most magnificent sights in Africa, Kilimanjaro’s snow capped peak climbs 5000 metres over the surrounding plains. Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest freestanding mountain in the world, made up of 3 volcanoes, Kibo (5896m), Mawenzi (5149m) and Shira (3962m), all of which have been lying dormant for centuries.
Being one of the highest trekking mountains in the world, this has become a popular destination for those looking for a challenging adventure. The iconic images of the mountain towering over the wildlife filled plains below have helped increase the popularity of this magnificent peak.
Our adventure takes us to the remote north-eastern side of the mountain, and follows the Rongai Trail. Above all other walking routes, Rongai retains a true sense of wilderness. There are usually less walkers (usually one-tenth that of Machame) and it is generally considered to be one of the easiest of the quality routes on the mountain. By also spending 5 nights on this route we offer the best chance of summiting. Upon reaching the summit, we descend along the wide paths of the Marangu trail (the Coca-Cola Route). It would definitely be the best choice for climbers looking for a quality Kilimanjaro experience with the least chance of difficulties. For more information contact julie@acrossthedivide.com

www.acrossthedivide.com - Namibia is one of the few places on earth where the natural environment rules supreme. Participants will be involved in the following types of work: Building walls, fixing windows, tiling, fixing doors, installing bathrooms, general repair work, cleaning, plastering, painting, sanding, replacing existing flooring, improving the garden, building play areas - For more information contact julie@acrossthedivide.com

www.AcrosstheDivide.com  have created a unique charity trekking route which only we have permission to use, away from the hustle and bustle of the main Inca Trail. We use a previously unknown valley where we have helped to rediscover otherwise neglected ruins, constructed toilets helping to promote better health, and community structures in villages that do not otherwise benefit from the monies generated by tourism. Our route takes us through hidden valleys, mountain passes, along long forgotten Inca trails, and through small villages where little has changed and they still follow traditional methods of farming. Our trek ends as we reach Machu Picchu by passing through the Sun Gate to view this stunning sacred city - For more information contact julie@acrossthedivide.com

www.acrossthedivide.com - The ultimate trekking challenge following in the footsteps of Hilary and Tensing Norgay. The trek is a combination of the Gokyo and Kalapathar treks. The mountains are spectacular, the Ngozumpa Glacier is the largest in the Nepal Himalaya and from a ridge above Gokyo, four 8000m peaks (Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse and Makalu) are visible at once. The view of the tremendous ice ridge between Cho Oyu (8153 m) and Gyachung Kang (7922 m) is one of the most dramatic panoramas in Khumbu. The route will also take us through Cho La, a 5420 metre high pass into Khumbu and then walk up to Kalapathar from where you can get a closer view of the Everest Range.
