Your guide on training and fundraising

At approx 12:57 on Sunday 18th May 2008, Steve Edwards, a 45 year old athlete from the Cotswold town of Moreton In Marsh smashed the world record by running 10 marathons in 10 days in the fastest ever combined finish time - 35 hours 20 minutes which totally blew away the old record of 37 hours 39 minutes set last year.  This new record equates to running each and every marathon in just 3 hours 32 minutes on each of the 10 days which means that every one of the total 262 miles was run in about 8 minutes. A truly staggering performance that will surely sit deservedly in the record books for some time to come www.brathaychallenge.com

BLIND athlete Dave Heeley defied all the odds to run his way into the history books completing an amazing globe-trotting string of seven marathons. Dave, who is 50 and from West Bromwich, became the first ever disabled runner to complete seven marathons in just seven days covering seven continents. His astonishing achievement was crowned at the London Marathon with carpenter Dave and his guide runner Malcolm ‘Mad Mac’ Carr reaching the finish line to an emotional reunion with friends and family. The first leg of the challenge (7th April 2008) took place in Port Stanley, Falkland Islands (Antarctica), followed by six subsequent gruelling legs in Santiago (South America), Los Angeles (North America), Sydney (Australasia), Dubai (Asia), Tunis (Africa) and London (Europe) - the Flora London Marathon (13th April 2008). Dave will became the first blind person to complete seven marathons, on seven continents, in seven days. At home, Dave relies on the amazing work of Guide Dogs, the charity that has provided him with life-changing freedom of mobility through guide dog ownership spanning over 10 years with three loyal and dedicated dogs; Peter, Carla and currently Wicksie.
